Baker, F. Co., 39th Iowa Infantry. He was enlisted in by LT. T.W. Stiles in St. Charles, Iowa on 17 August 1862 and was mustered in by CAPT. Hendesshott at Davenport, Iowa on 24 November 1862. He was assigned duty as a wagoneer and then as a teamster. He was detached to Rome, Georgia in August of 1864 and served as the regimental teamster. He was mustered out under telegraphic orders from the War Department on 4 May, 1865 on partial disability due to being wounded and losing an eye on the march from Corinth Mississippi to Tuscumbia, Al.
