This was started as a project for myself. My great-grandfather, Michael Adrian, served with the 27th Regiment Iowa Volunteer Infantry, Company D.
All of the rosters are complete. In addition, if the soldier is buried in a national cemetery and is listed in the Roll of Honor, he is linked to the proper Volume. Additional information about the cemetery is included, if it was available. Unfortunately, there is no record of the burial place of well over half of the men that died in the 27th Regiment.
Steve Kiner, who's great-great grandfather, Frederick F. Kiner, was the Chaplain for (first the 14th Regiment Iowa Volunteer Infantry and then later, the 27th Regiment), has joined me in my efforts to make this a complete and informative website for the 27th Regiment Iowa Volunteer Infantry.
Steve and I would be delighted to hear from you if you are a descendant of a soldier in the 27th Regiment. We are especially interested in trying to locate letters, diaries, Civil War documents, or pictures pertaining to the 27th Regiment Iowa Volunteer Infantry.
