Re: GABRIEL PERKINS, Company K, 34th Iowa InfantryFrom: Dave Wildman CommentsGabriel, you should look for "Iowa and the Rebellion" by Lurton Dunham Ingersoll, 1866. Your local library may be able to find a copy for you. Four counties, namely, Warren, Lucas, Decatur, and Wayne, in the Fifth congressional district, furnished nearly all the nine hundred and thirty-four men who originally formed the thirty-fourth regiment. The regiment rendezvoused at Burlington, Camp Lauman, on October 15, 1862. There was not less than 600 cases of the measles in the regiment during its stay of about two months at Camp Lauman. My gg Grandfather was in the 38th Regiment when it was consolidated with the 34th in January 1865. Last changed: October 21, 2002 |
