A relative of mine died there in August 1863. He was with the 38th Vol. Infantry; however, apparently many units had soldiers there. It was located about 6 miles outside of New Orleans. Re: Joseph Bowker, Jasper County, Newton, IowaFrom: [email protected] CommentsThe public library in Newton Iowa has a complete set of books that every person that served in the civil war in Iowa. I suggest you contact some one there in the genealogy society and request they do a search for you. I found my gfather there. Try Catherine Henderson in Mingo, IA. You will have to look up her number as I don't have. You can do that on www.4numbers.com good luck Jerry Havens Last changed: October 21, 2002 |
