7th Iowa infantry uniform

I am interested in any information on the first uniform worn by the 7th Ia. inf. I have the description and picture in H. I. Smiths book History of the 7th Iowa volunteer Infantry There seems to be a discrepency between his description of the jacket being a dark blue and the photo looking as if it is gray . I say this because the fatigue hat he is wearing appears much darker.
