I am helping my son research an 1850 Foot Soldier Sword carried by his great, great, great, great grandfather "Amon Steever" If anyone has information on that sword or on the 17th Infantry, Company I and the Battle of the Rebellion that he was involved with could you please email ASAP. My son is putting on a research project for a museum in March of 1999. I would be interested to visit with anyone who had relatives that might have served along side of Amon Steever. He enlisted Fairfield, Iowa on March 17, 1862. He was discharged in Davenport Iowa but I do not know when that was. He died June 25, 1890 Thanks for you help!
