Randy, I would be willing to help you look for information in answer to your query. Could you send me your e-mail address? It is not given in your query. The Ninth Iowa Cavalry was not organized until the fall of 1863, so I'm not certain the Cavalry is the correct branch for your great-grandfather. The Ninth Iowa Cavalry, however, served in Arkansas.
