I have found a Note written in a family bible stating: "Given to Pa by J.P. Sampson Luet. Co. C 9th Iowa Vol. Augusta Ark. July 7, 1862" Unproven family history has been that my Great Grandfather Charles Henry Bessy was a cavalry officer in the Civil War. Can anyone help with any info on this or tell me where to look for help? Thanks in advance
