Iowa Civil War Site Discussion Group[ Home | Contents | Search | Post | Reply | Next | Previous | Up ] Muscatine Co Units and Civil War BurialsFrom: Susie Martin-Rott CommentsI've been working for quite a while on a database of men who enlisted from Muscatine Co or were from other units and are buried in Muscatine County. Primary Iowa units involved are: 1st Infantry Co A, C 7th Infantry Co A, 8th Infantry Co B 11th Infantry Staff, Co A, D, H, I 16th Infantry Co C, E, F 18th Infantry Co E, K 35th Infantry Co A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I 37th Infantry Co B 44th Infantry Co B 2nd Cavalry Staff, Co A,G 8th Cavalry Co K 9th Cavalry Co A as well as assorted men from other companies and units, plus those buried in Muscatine County who served in ANY unit or state in the Civil War. If you have information on someone who fits this criteria, I'd like to hear from you. Primary things I am trying to enter are date and place of birth, unit served in, rank, enlistment date or muster date, discharge date and cause, promotions and dates of promotion, date of death, place of burial and name of spouse. Any little bit helps and if I have further info on your party, I will be glad to share it. PLEASE do not consider this an open offer for lookups as I really can't do that due to time constraints. If you seriously have a person you believe affiliated with this project however, PLEASE feel free to swap info with me. I have over 2300 men in the database thus far and one thing really lacking is burial locations. I have promised to pass these on to a non-profit group doing monument preservation so PLEASE if your CW vet is buried in Muscatine Co or is FROM Muscatine Co unit, Take a minute to send a note. Please mail these to [email protected] (I'll be changing ISP's soon and that address is always good) THANKS! Last changed: October 21, 2002 |
