My name is Chris Johnson, and am sort of a Civil War researcher living in Iowa. I noticed that on the Iowa Civil War web page, you were looking for information on the battle of Parkers Crossing and the 39th Iowa Infantry's involvement in it. Have you received any information on it yet? I have a rather lengthy report written the day of the battle by the regiment commander, that gives good details and numbers. Would you be interested in it? I think that I can scan it, otherwise I will try my best to copy it for you. Let me know if you are still interested in it. "I am very interested to know about the battle at Parkers Crossing. My GGGrandfather(William Thornburg) was wounded there. While doing my Genealogy on this line I learned about the wounding but little else. Would like to know titles of books or personal stories of this battle to share with my children. Thanks" Regards!
