Sadly, the Civil War battle flags are in sorry shape. They stand in enclosed glass cases in two corners under the rotunda at the Iowa Capitol building. It has been a couple years since I have seen them myself, but then they were tattered, moth-eaten, faded, and really neglected. Our forefathers who fought & died to protect those flags would well up if they saw them.
I had heard a proposal (a bill, actually) to furnish money to have the flags restored and properly displayed. As I recall is was a year or two ago and the bill was defeated. Unless some private citizens get involved we may lose these relics, and that would be a shame. (Sorry for the soapbox...) I would be interested in hearing from others to see if there's a possibility of dealing with this in a positive way...email me! As for your specific request, I've never seen a photo or picture of the flag...
