Send me e mail if you have information on location, history on it etc. I would appreciate it very much. Looking for Norwegian ancestor in Civil WarFrom: Gerald Winger [email protected] CommentsI am looking for Endre Moen who emigrated to America in 1861. He was paid $300 to replace another man in the Union army. He apparently died in Nov. 1864 under Sherman in his march to the sea. Does anyone know how I might locate any information about him. Any leads would be highly appreciated. My ancestors came to Iowa so that is why I suspect he might have joined an Iowa group. The family settled in Decorah, Iowa. Thanks. Re: 8th, 11th., 33rd., & 40th. Iowa Inf.,From: [email protected] CommentsRe: 11th Iowa Vol Inf., Co. D. Samuel Campbell, 1st Sgt. Killed by sniper near Atlanta, Aug 19, 1864. Great Uncle. Would like to hear from anyone who has any info. Already have National Cemetery gravesite, Marietta, GA. Would also like info as to engagements of the regimant and of Co. D in particular. Is there a regimental history somewhere. Sam had brother Alexander in same regiment but not same company. Last changed: January 12, 2002 |
