Any and all help is greatly appreciated!! 23d Iowa VIFrom: [email protected] CommentsThose interested in the Regiment may want to contact Richard Barton, 1333 Truman Place, Ames, Iowa 50010-4261. He wrote a recent article about its participation at the Big Black and has been researching it for several years. Re: 34th or 8th Iowa Infantry? From: [email protected] CommentsMy Grandfather (3rd) was in the 34th Iowa Volunteers. Enlisted in 1862 as a Musician. Became Drum Major by the time he got out. This unit mustered at Burlington and fought battles up and down the Mississippi. White's Creek, Arkansas Bluffs, Mobile Bay etc. The most notable was the Seige of Vicksburg. I have more info on this unit if you are interested. Last changed: January 12, 2002 |
