I recently purchased a musket, bayonet w/scabbard, CDV of Officer and what looks like a small recruiting broadside. The musket is id'd to a Wilford Vinton of an Iowa unit. The broadside is for the 18th Iowa. Does anyone have any info. on the 18th and/or a Wilford Vinton? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

My g grandfather Bluford Sumpter served in Company I 39th Iowa Infantry enlisting on Aug 12, 1862 & discharged June 5, 1865.

I too would like to know more about this unit!
