I am trying to locate anyone with a Grinnell College link who served in the War Between the States. I am looking for most any connection (units, battles, etc.)

I would also be interested in learning of any Grinnell College connections with the Confederate States of America, if any. This includes those serving in Southern military units.

My great grandfather, James Martin Jones, and his two brothers, Joseph Jones and Martin Mitchell Kones, Jr. served with the 3rd Iowa Calvary. I am looking for additional information/history about the 3rd Iowa Calvary. I was born and raised in Dickinson County, Iowa
