It seems that my great grandfather, B.F. Bower was a friend of C.A. Smith who originally wrote the book. Imagine my surprise! Becky Peterson also helped me with info. Bailey I'm not certain where he was buried. He fought at Shiloh (Pittsburg Landing)and in 1864/5 took a comission into the 65th USCI as Capt cmdg Co.G. I've got a pretty good track on his post war activities but not much on his war years.
