This unit was attached to Col. George E. Waring's Post of Columbus, KY of Brig. Gen. Alexander Asboth's 6th Division, District of Columbus (KY), Maj. Gen. Stephen A. Hurlbut's XVI Army Corps and was commanded by Col. William E. Shaw & Lt. Col. Joseph H. Newbold.
