3rd Iowa Cavalry

*James A. Morrison was born in Perry Conty, Pennsylvania and was by occupation a farmer entered the service on the 4th day of September 1861 as a private Co. F Regt 3 Iowa Cavalry .

* He went blind during the war and was discharged: "Know ye, that James A. Morrison a private of Captain Spencer's Company (67), 1st Batt of Invalids Corps volunteers who was enrolled on the fourth day of September one thousand eight hundred and sixty one to serve three years or during the war, is hereby Discharged from the service of the United States this Fourteenth day of April 1864, at Jefferson Barracks Mo by reason of Surgeons Certificate of Disability.

Said James A. Morrison was born in Penn, State of Pennsylvania, is Twenty-eight years of age, five feet six inches high, fair complexion, grey eyes, light hair, and by occupation, when enrolled, a farmer. Given at Jefferson Barracks Mo. this Fourtheenth day of April 1864 Signed by Jno F. Randolph Surg USA in Charge"

* He was also a member of the Grand Army of the Republic Department of Iowa Headquarters Geo Strong Post No. 19.

* He also attended the: "Third Iowa Cavalry Volunteers.
Organized August 19th, 1861.
Veteraned January , 1864,
Disbanded August 19th, 1865
Reunion
Keokuk, Iowa,
Oct. 3,4,5 1883."
