I'm searching for any information on my ancestors who lived in Poweshiek Co. in the mid-1800s and would appreciate any help!

Betsey Hatch Cummings & Bradish Cummings were living in Brooklyn, Iowa, by the 1860s, along with his sons from a previous marriage Joseph Sargent Cummings and Henry Cummings. Family names include: Charles, Maria, George, Frank, Minnie, Fred, Ovra, Fanny, Eliza, Edith, Dora, Maggie, and Clarence.

My great-great grandmother Almira Hatch Cummings, daughter of Betey & Bradish, married from Booklyn to Norman Francis Bates in 1864. Norman was born in Malcolm and was awarded the Medal of Honor while serving in the 4th Iowa Cavalry, Co. E. Norman and Almira's children were born in Malcolm: my great- grandfather Eugene Sylvester Bates (1868-1941) and siblings Gertrude A. and Norma Francis.

Q: I am looking for any information about my great grandmother...her name was Ruth (Leona ?) Emerson and her married name was Weir. After her marriage, they lived in Spirit Lake, IA and she had 2 sons and 4 daughters (at least that I now of) If you have suggestions as to where I could look, I would appreciate your email. Thanks. I am interested in tracking the family history for my grandmother's family. Her maiden name was Anna Bright.

She was born in Sweden and was married to John Fredrick Samuelson on May 5, 1897 in Jefferson County, Iowa. In 1910 they moved to Irma (Lincoln County), WI.
