As far as the marriage certificate, if your ancestor had a wife that survived him, she may have applied for a widow's pension. I am looking for information on my 2nd great grandfather, John Boyd, who lived in Pella as a youth. He was born on 2 Jan 1832, possibly in Pella and was hte husband of Almira (Bartlett). He worked as a doorkeeper for the US House of Representatives in 1972. He became a lobbyist for Collis P. Huntington, a railroad magnate, for 30 years. He had a son Franchot (who married Lil and had 3 children, Alice Marjory and John) and a daughter, Cora May, my great grandmother. Thomas Peavey and wife Sarah and childrenFrom: Epworth Iowa CommentsThomas and his wife moved to Epworth after the civil War and they had a son that went with them his name was Allard C Peavey. another son Robert Howard Peavey. This would be in the year 1864. I know that gg grandpa Thomas is buried in Epworth cemetery but we don't know what happened to Allard. It is said that he went into a cattle business with someone there. Does any one know of them? Thomas ran a gun shop there in Epworth and he also made guns. He was a Sharpshooter during the Civil War.
