Searching for birthlpace information on my great grandmother (bd April 16, 1863) who was married to James Hickson in Maquoketa, Iowa on Oct.23,1883. Farmed in Jackson county Iowa until 1887 when they moved to Clay county in Pleasant Valley, South Dakota. Children: Terry, Charles and Jenny Hickson Sorenson, Los Angeles, Mae Hickson Blasius, of Winner SD, Arthur Hickson, Knoxville, Iowa and Gertrude Hixon Dahl of Vermillion, SD (all deceased).

I am searching for information on a D. MENGE and/or ELDER W. FEY who resided in Marengo, IA c. 1886 - 1890 +/-. They may have had Church affiliations.

Was there ever a school or training for the ministry in Marengo, IA? I have a great Uncle who attended such a place OR apprenticed under MENGE and/or FEY (ELDER may refer to a title, rather than a name). My Uncle died a young man while living in Marengo and we believe he was studying/training to be a minister at the time. The names D. MENGE and ELDER W. FEY show up in his personal papers. One such paper from D. MENGE is dated Sept. 6, 1886. Another notation refers to ELDER W. FEY. That note was made around the time of his death (we surmise). My great-Uncle died c.1890/91.
