I was born 10-06-71 in Bremer County, in Waverly, IA. I would like to hear from anyone knowing anything about a the young woman who gave birth to me. I am not looking for names, I just want to grasp the hope that maybe someone new this girl (she was very young.) She probably had black hair and very dark eyes like myself. All I know of her is that she only weighed 90 lb. Please help if you even think you might know something.

I have two questions that I really hope someone can help me with.

#1. Does anyone know approximately WHEN Iowa state lines would have been marked? Would they have been marked on major wagon trails going through in 1875?

#2. Am looking for any info on genealogy of STEADMAN family -- William Steadman, not sure of wife's name, three sons Reuben, John, Thomas. Boys born approx late 1860s, early 1870s. Lived in Walnut Grove, Minnesota in 1874-75, and managed Burr Oak House in Burr Oak, Winneshiek County, Iowa, in 1875-1877.

If anyone can help me, please email me at [email protected]

Thanks! Zoie

My fraternal grandmother was Margaret Van Tassell(Johnson), the oldest daughter of Robert W. Van Tassell. Most of the information that I have about the family comes from Granville Van Tassell who lived in Peoria, Ill. and Mary Pazurik, who lived in Trail, B.C. They both corresponded with my parents. They provided a great deal of family history back to the Netherlands in the 16th century when the name was Van Texel.

I'm looking for any info on any info on Nancy Nichols who married Jason Wilson in Vermont in the early 1830's. She had a son James G. Wilson born 1832, VT. The migrated west and in Belvidere, Ill , she married an Itinerant Preacher named Oren Lewis. The family ended up in Quasqueton, Iowa in 1849. James (son) continued to Mt. Vernon in 1853/54, then Cedar Rapids. I would like to find this family in the 1850 census, but can't get to the archive libraries. Is there anyone out there that has access to these records to see if this family exists? Thank you. (See also James Wilson - 1st and 16th Infantry's)
