Please call some evening, and I can probably answer almost any question you might have about him, as I grew up less than a mile from his grave in Rippey, IA cemetary, and my dad still lives near by. Also, a few old timers who knew him still are quite alert and live near Rippey. This is my first foray onto AOL, and I may not be able to check this, so please call by regular telephone. Occasionally, my son logs on to Internet at University of Illinois Chicago, where our address is [email protected] DR Gonder was NOT married to Mary Ann Wheeler; he was married to Mary Ann Leeding. I have a 3rd cousin in California who has researched Mary's family, and Wheelers do get mentioned frequently in her family history. I would have to refer to the cousin's letter on the subject. MA Leeding immigrated to Licking Co Ohio from Cambridgeshire, England, and met DRG after he returned from the Mexican War. Again, call some evening, and then I can write you, or you can write me, or we can talk for a while, and I can respond according to your interests. DRG died just short of his 101st birthday; Mary died in 1912. If you have more info on him, I would be interested, as would at least 20 of my Gonder 1st cousins, umpteen 2nd, 3rd, and 4th cousins. He was born 7 Nov 1855 in Iowa; he married Lee Etta Shenefelt 12 Jan 1895; the marriage was recorded in Washington County. Their daughter, Ethel May Nevin, was born 4 Oct 1890 in Gravity, Iowa.
