Hamburg - ? - 1913From: [email protected] CommentsQ: Several months ago I found my 2nd great uncle Frank O'Connor. He was a farmer who died in 1913. Yesterday I discovered a very short story, written by an aunt in 1948, in which I discover he owned several farms in the Hamburg area as well as one close by in Nebraska. He was 84 years old when he died and had been cared for [housekeeping etc.] by my great aunt Marion O'Rourke for several years. From the short story it would appear that Frank was a very well known, much liked local inhabitant who had had numerous experiences as a frontiersman in the American West prior to his becoming a farmer in Iowa. When my knew him [abt. 1905 - 1913] he was permanently stooped from an earlier accident. I should like very much to learn more about the times and conditions in that area as well as any biographical and/or personal detail that would broaden my understanding of a man who was very important to the familial experiences of my living ancestors. Thank you in advance for any and all help or suggestions you may be able to provide. Robert E. Gahan 3220 14th Street, S.W.
