Addressed to Mr. John Deeds, Northsewickly , Pa, Butler County, Pa, Portersville. I have not so far been able to find out what the "trial" is about. Apparently something happened to drive a wedge in the family. See also the two letters from Philip Deeds to John Deeds dated November, 1831.(PS 1999)

My respects I send to you, Mother
I take this opportunity to let you know father is gone to Beaver this day to take out subpoenas for the trial that you put in court against father. I wish that you would come and settle it some other way. It brings us all to scandal and disgrace. He has witnesses to do it, and I hope you will come and do it, Mother. I hope you will remember your sons and daughters. If you will not, it shall be my last request. Dont let father know I have wrote to you for he will be angry. I add no more at present.
Jesse Deeds
