Biography ofAlexander Mongomery

From a copy of this volunteer enlistment. State of Iowa town of Tipton. Born in Beaver County in the State of Pennsylvania and was 19 years old when he enlisted ion July 24, 1862 as a Private. He had blue eyes, red hair and was 5;6" and was a farmer. His casualty sheet said he died December 26, 1862 from the Measles and chronic diarrhea. His place of death was Helena, Arkansas. His effects were sent to his Mother, Mary Montgomery, who lived in Iowa.

I know he had 2 other brothers that also served in the civil war, one of which was shot, but at this time I do not have their information.
