Lime City

Cedar County, Iowa

From 1875-1907, because of the demand for processed lime for building purposes, Lime City flourished. It was located about 6 miles north/northwest of Wilton. It contained houses, stores, streets, a church, a school, telephone lines and a train track to haul the processed lime out. The only things left are the lime quarries growing up with trees and ruins of three kilns.
